Evolution of the Leo club of Sri Lanka Technological Campus...

Leo Club is a youth organization of Lions Club International. The acronym L.E.O stands for
Leadership, Experience, Opportunity. Leo District 306 A2 is one of the leading Leo Districts in
Sri Lanka. It is sponsored and operates under the International Association of Lions Club
District 306 A2. Currently, 27 Leo clubs are actively serving the community. Three years back
a group of undergraduates from the University of Sri Lanka Technological Campus joined
their hands to lay the foundation for the Leo Club of SLTC with the help of Lion Noel
Palliyaguru.

• Leoistic year 2016/2017..

President- Leo Navod Kiriwaththuduwa

Under the presidency of Leo Navod Kiriwaththuduwa, our Leos were able to conduct many
projects for the betterment of society. The Leos were awarded as winners in the Leo district
Conference for most of the projects they have conducted during their charter year. They
were “Samaye Seenu Handa” under the Peace and Religious activities category and under
the Public relationship category, “LEO CODCON” under the sports and recreation category,
"Kind" under the Helping hand differently-abled category, "Night Watch" under the Joint
project with outside organization, "Aspiration" under the Best project for day celebration
category. For the individual awards, Leo Navod Kiriwaththuduwa was awarded many titles
and they were the “Most popular Leo”, “Best New Leo of the year” and “Most outstanding
new club president” and Lion Noel Palliyaguru was awarded as the “Most Outstanding Leo
advisor” and our club was awarded as the “Most outstanding new Leo club”.

Under the presidency of Leo Pemal Yasith, our fellow Leos conducted projects under their

categories, "Golden nets", "Save the whales", "Say No to Drugs", "Jeewana yathra" and

"Felicitation ceremony" were few of them. We were able to achieve many awards in the

District Leo conference at the end of the Leoistic year. Our Leo club was named as winners

for most of the projects conducted by our fellow Leos. “A2 Sports day” under the sports and

recreation category, “El Talento” under the public relationship category, “Pancha prayama”

under the betterment of Leoism category, “heart for hunger” under the project for hunger

category. For the individual awards, Leo Navod Kiriwaththuduwa was awarded as the “Most

outstanding activity director” and he was also awarded as the “Most outstanding immediate

past club president”.

During the Leoistic year 2018/2019, we were able to overcome many obstacles to keep our

Leo club steady by conducting projects such as “Beginning of the spirit” by focusing the

students of Pitumpe primary school, “Sandahiru abhivandana”, “Ohuta sewanak” where our

fellow Leos presented a shelter for a lottery seller, “Maatha”, “Leo office room”, “Winfest

career concert”, “Samayan” and “Game-A-Thon”. During the Leo district conference, we

were awarded many titles. Leo Lakshitha Sandaruwan was announced as the "Most

outstanding club vice president", Leo Heshani Alahakoon was awarded as the "Most Decent

Leo" and Leo Pemal Yasith was awarded as the "Most outstanding immediate past club

president" and Leo Isuri Udithamala was named as the “Best Unit member”.
