SLTC LEOS

T he number of people with diabetes has seen a significant rise from 108 million to 422 million. Anyone can be diagnosed with diabetes. Diabetes transcends age, gender, social status, caste or race. There are many risk factors that can lead to diabetes. Abnormal nutrition, physical inactivity and stress are few of the cases for diabetes. Awareness is the first step to any kind of change. A Diabetes awareness campaign was held on the 14th of September in order to raise awareness on how to control it, how to prevent it and what must be done if you are a diabetes patient. This was organized by the Leos of the Leo club of SLTC, Leo club of Mattegoda and Leo club of Kalubowila with the help of the Diabetes Association of Sri Lanka. At Bellanwila Rajamaha viharaya at 8.00am. The main objective of this awareness campaign was to educate the public about the deadly risks of this non infectious disease.

#REduce... #REuse... #REcycle... Protecting our mother Earth starts with you. When we recycle, used materials are converted into new products,reducing the need to consume natural resources. With the help of reusable things, we can gain a profitable which  can be used for our daily life as well. Therefore, in the journey of protecting our planet, the Leo club of SLTC organized the RE competition from the 17th of August to 31st of August in order to save our planet. The prime motive of the project was to collect reusable materials and build a product and upload its photos with a description to the Facebook event. The best products and the products with highest likes and shares were awarded.

The Leo club of Sri Lanka Technological Campus celebrated its 3rd anniversary on the 14th of September 2019. The past 3 Leo years were with interest of conducting community services for the betterment of society. As the Leos of the Leo club of SLTC, we are planning to uplift our standards this Leoistic year with the theme  “Leaders for humanity”

T his September, the Leos of Sri Lanka Technological campus along with Leo club of Kathmandu Everest sunshine Nepal, Leo club of Kathmandu Regency Nepal and Leo club of Kathmandu mount Makulu Nepal have got together to raise funds to celebrate World children’s day with our little kids who are suffering from cancer. “JACK” Joining Against Cancer in Kids Will Be conducted throughout September, as September is childhood cancer awareness month. In aid of fund raising, our Leos performed street music along with hat collection at Galle face for the little angels on the 13th of September 2019 from 10.00am onwards. It was the 1st fund raising even we conducted under this project. We are planning to conduct more events in order to raise funds to make this project a success. Your generous help was much more appreciated on that day to make these little angels’ world happy and more colourful. We are hoping to get your guidance and support for the upcoming fund raising events as well.      

As the Leo Club of the Sri Lanka Technological Campus, we are conducting a  research under the Leo District 306A2 theme "Prospering sustainably".
